A screen-enclosure project file is the chain of documents connecting the approved design to the installed work. Verify both the individual and the business

Create a preconstruction document index
- Signed contract, property address, owner, contractor legal name, qualifier, license, insurance records, and contacts.
- Scope drawing showing footprint, dimensions, elevations, roof form, doors, access, house connection, deck edge, gutters, and drainage interfaces.
- Site-specific signed and sealed documents when required, including design criteria and revision history.
- Local permit application, issued permit, approved plan set, reviewer comments, and required notices.
- Manufacturer, series, material, finish, fastener, screen, door, and accessory submittals.
- Florida Product Approval or other approval information when the project documents require it, including limitations and installation instructions.
Keep approvals tied to exact products
The Florida Building Commission's product-search system lets users search by FL number, manufacturer, category, code version, and approval status. A product record is not blanket permission to use an item anywhere. Keep the exact model or series, approval number, code edition, installation instructions, limitations of use, and the document that selected it for the project.

Record changes before they disappear
Assign each change a number, date, location, reason, photo, affected drawing or product, written direction, price or schedule effect, and approval. A field conversation is not a durable record when it changes a door location, member, connection, roof interface, drainage path, or required inspection.
Use inspection hold points
- Before fabrication or irreversible ordering: verify dimensions, finish, doors, engineering, approved plans, and product identities.
- Before concealment or lost access: photograph anchors, attachments, interfaces, and work subject to inspection.
- Before owner acceptance: resolve inspection results, open changes, door operation, screen condition, drainage interfaces, cleanup, and documents.
Assemble the closeout packet
Collect the final approved drawings, revisions, inspection record, product and color schedule, panel or door map, maintenance information, warranties, paid invoice, lien or notice records applicable to the project, and dated finished photos. Record any owner maintenance, storm procedure, removable-panel instruction, or inspection recommendation supplied by the engineer or manufacturer without inventing a generic procedure.
